Note to viewers ( how many am I up to? 5?)
I will be out of town until super late Sunday evening. I'm going to try and keep up with the blog while i'm away but can't guarantee anything. My friend has lent me his point and shoot so I don't risk freezing my camera again. We'll see what happens.

Have a good weekend!

KC Fix of the Day!

KC's friend Hermione came to visit the office today. It took them a while to really understand each others boundaries and nuances. KC is very rambunctious while Hermione tends to be on the calmer side. KC also gets very jealous whenever someone is petting Hermione.

Photo of the Day!!!

I love blowing the fuzz off of these flowers but this one was already defuzzed so I left it alone. This is as wintery as it gets in Austin i'm afraid. It is cold but I hate to use that word when it is still above 20 degrees and other parts of the country are covered in yards of snow. It's chilly.

KC fix of the Day!

She was tired again today (Todd stayed up late again). She weighs 75 pounds but loves to sleep in the very small space under my desk. My legs, UPC, and cords all have to compete for room when she's under there. Oh, and her head and shoulders don't fit so she conveniently places those under my desk chair. I have to be very careful i don't run her over whenever i swivel around. Sometimes I like to just spin in my chair but i can't do that when KC is under my desk. When she is under there and decides to sit up she has to hunch over like a small child with bad posture. The top of her head hits my keyboard shelf. Ahh, silly dog.

Photo of the Day!!!

Interesting Cate fact of the day: (no it's not that I love Post-it notes)(I do love Post-it notes) I have this thing where the notes on my desk have to be in straight lines. Now, it doesn't always look like this when I'm actually working - that is a mess only a mother could love. When I'm organizing my notes or my desk i have to re-align the post-its, paper, and pens so that they are all straight. Now, if you would care to look in the upper right corner of the desk you will see that the pad of post-its is NOT STRAIGHT! grrr. I considered retaking the photograph but realized that having it straight on my desk in present real life time is good enough. Also, you know what bothers me? CDs and DVDs. They are round and do not fit into my obsession for straight lines. Sometimes i have nightmares... Okay not really but it does bug me that i can't organize them straight.

Photo of the Day!!!!!

I really struggled today. Really not feeling it and I apologize for the lack of creativity or interestingness. Don't get me wrong - I do like this photograph, but i feel as though it wasn't much of a stretch for me. It would be great if I could stop being so analytical about this and just have fun. I am my worst critic I guess - Actually i'm my only critic right now (FEEDBACK PLEASE)
I also realized a few things today while in the middle of my silent panic attack over what to photograph; I am looking at subjects in terms of "would people be interested in seeing that?" and that sets me back. Some things are interesting to me, some things funny but i don't know how to make that translate through the photograph I take. It is only day 6 of the project so i won't completely beat myself up.
I need to take more risks*

* Interesting Cate fact of the day: I am terrified of photographing people i don't know - or rather people that i haven't spoken to about taking their picture TERRIFIED. Mostly afraid of getting yelled at or arrested (I also have a fear of breaking the law)(Yes, i know that photographing people is not breaking the law)(i still have an irrational fear of breaking the law regardless)

Shameless Self Promotion

Hi everyone (all four of you that are following :). If you like the pictures on this page (or hate them but are curious) I have a flickr account with a bazillion and three more pictures. Some good some bad some meh. I would really appreciate some critique as I am really trying to improve my skills. I have mad skills now but really want to achieve super mad ninja skills if possible. Actually, I know it's possible because I have nephews with super mad ninja skills so it must run in the family gene pool. Help me realize my full potential.

Please help...

Getting Ready (hurry up please) Day 5

KC is always anxious to get going to work in the morning. This morning she was impatiently waiting for Todd to finish getting ready. She usually jumps onto the bed when I get up and waits for ME to get ready.

PHOTO OF THE DAY!
I walk past these stairs every single day (except Saturday and Sunday) and never noticed how vibrant the colors were. It also helped tremendously that I had my polarizing filter on my lens.

KC's Face - Fix of the Day

KC's Face, originally uploaded by catescott.

Enjoy this beautiful face. She may look innocent but she was actually getting ready to rear her head at me because we were playing. She loves to roll around all over you and fake growl like she's mad. She makes me so happy throughout the day with her games and zany nature. Yes, ZANY

PHOTO OF THE DAY!!!

And you thought i had given up already! There are still 17 (16)(15)minutes of January 12th left as i post this (I just noticed that the "posted" time is pacific standard time and I am in central). This is my not so great attempt at night photography. The wind was blowing too much and the tree thus moved. I still like it though and shall now call it an abstract! :)

KC's Workday Timeline, KC Fix Day 3

KC was mostly exhausted today due to a late night with Todd. She had a burst of energy around lunchtime but then faded fast into the afternoon.

First Blog!! Barton Creek Greenbelt

First blog of the year! Well, first blog ever! I went to Barton Creek Greenbelt this morning with my friend Hunter. We were geo-caching/photo taking/hiking. The photo's are from our adventure. We parked at the 360 trail head (near some office buildings) and set out from there. We did not find the first cache (suspect it may no longer be there), but we did find several others along the way. These were some of the items inside the first found cache. I played with them for a few minutes and then put them back for someone else to find.

It was great to be outdoors in January. The sun was shining and though it was a bit chilly at times overall the weather was perfect. I had never been here before so it was very interesting to see the creek bed without any water at all. Imagination came in very handy. I definitely want to come back when there is water. My dog, KC, would love it!

We did find a small trickle of water near the Gus Fruh area of the park. We followed it upstream a bit and found ourselves looking down a very steep cliff to the dry beds below. We could see people, hear people, and hear said people yelling at their dogs not to go in the water (what do they expect? It's what dogs do!).

We started heading back to the trail head after an unsuccessful foraging session for a hidden cache. I saw the cutest freakin' puppy ever - all black and fuzzy with that puppy face! I'm a sucker for puppies.
Made it back to the car around 1:30 - hungry and thirsty but very content.
Enjoy the photos!
